MsMichaels' Take...

Reading is my passion. I love nothing more than to get lost in a story. Whether that be a fantasy story or one true to life. I love being able to share my experience through reading it.

Solid 3***

The Alpha's Mark: Claimed by the Pack - Part One - Kimber White

Just not a huge fan of this Author's writing style. So these were just luke warm stories for me at best.

This is the second book I've read by Ms. White back to back. I really wish we had the male's POV. This story, and "The Rogue Alpha" story, I felt would have been great reads had we had more insight on the male's thoughts & emotions. I mean after all, we are reading about male shifters and their world. I just walked away from both stories feeling like alot of the story and plot was missing because we only see it through 20 year old human female POVs.

Solid 3 ***

Rogue Alpha: Wolf Shifter Romance (Wild Lake Wolves Book 1) - Kimber White

Solid 4.5 stars

This one was a very unique take on Shifters. Their society and origins. I have not read a PNR on this subject quite like this before. So on that note, I love this series. It was refreshing. This whole series has a bit of everything in it. SciFi-Time Travel, interracial love pairings, awesome historical factors woven in from the Viking eras, a lots more. It made for an awesome read. It certainly kept me from taking a breather in between books. So I savored this 5 book series nonstop. I did not want to, nor could I walk away until it was completed.

There are certain things that come off as campy when you don't expect it to. But this series has passion. Intense erotic passion. Heart. And characters you just get Their plights and circumstances and uniqueness, all make up for the "awkward, campy" bouts you encounter.

These stories are not extremely deep/complex. But they are interesting and have just enough danger, romance, heart and intrigue to keep you engaged.

I would definitely recommend this series to all of my PNR lovers, as well as those who love a bit of SciFi with their stories. It's present, but not to the point where it's overwhleming. It helps to make alot of things flow organically between the 5 books.

Awesome Reads!

Happy Reading :)

The Vixen and the Vet - Katy Regnery

I haven't cried this many happy AND sad tears in a very long time. This one was just beautifully written. There's not much I want to say about this one because I don't want to ruin anyone's journey here, who decides to read it. Just know that your heart will break and be beautifully put back together in all it's glory. This was a true modern day fairtytale, indeed. One with a true pulse on love in reality and heartbreak and forgiveness.

Asher has my heart. Period. I love this man and his journey with Savannah.

In a word, it was Epic

I HIGHLY recommend you read this one. I will be reading book 2 soon :)

*FYI* Every novel in this series, are standalone books, with completely unrelated stories to one another.

Happy Reading :)

The Vampire's Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls, #1) - Kristen Painter
I have just one question.. How do you write a paranormal romance, without passion in the pages of the story??? It's been a long time since I've judged a book by it's cover, but maybe in this case, I should have. This one totally disappointed me and left me wanting.

There's nothing wrong with the quirkiness found here, it was quite refreshing. Or even the uncomplicated tones that played out throughout the book. There were also many interesting avenues the story appeared to be heading in. Including intriguing supporting characters. I just had hoped that with the general theme of this novel, and the way it began, that there would be more passion, fire, intensity with the characters, their plights, all of it. None was there though. Truly lacking.

And I don't think I've ever encountered a Paranormal novel that has fade to black love scenes. NO HOT, SEXINESS AT ALL
Though you did get a few PG-13 kissing sessions. Even the big event Turning scenes were HUGE let downs.

No. Sadly, I would not recommend this read to any of my fellow Paranormal Lovers.

Vehn (Exotic Ink Series Book 1) by L.S. Anders

Vehn - Exotic Ink Series: Book One - LS Anders, Paradox Book Covers Formatting, Ella Medler, Elfwerks Editing

OMGOSH! This turned out to be a great read.

So I had a hard time in the beginning & leading up towards the middle, with our heroine. I understood her misgivings/fears, I did. I just felt like certain occurrences should have jolted her out of her way of thinking a lot sooner. Then what she did or how she handled the big eff up 75% in the novel, I was soooo ticked at her. I mean I totally saw myself leaping into my kindle, into her living room and shaking the ever loving crap out of her & letting Vehn in her house, so he could explain himself. LOL!

This was a very sexy, sweet, emotionally driven read. I loved/liked all the main supporting cast here. Hints to some of their individual stories, seem intriguing. Got my nosy behind dying to know what the deal is.... Sorry but I laughed so hard when it was finally revealed how Brent died.

I REALLY love Tegan To be quite honest, I was crushing on him way more than I was Vehn *Whispers* Sorry Vehn.

I think/hope given where Rayna & Tegan's story start here in this book, that their book will be off the chain interesting, intense, and beautiful. #CannotWaitForTheirStory.

Oh and Regina,

This was a great intro to this series. I highly recommend that you read it.

Unclaimed - Sara Humphreys
I had high hopes for this one, but sadly it just didn't live up to my expectations.
IMO, this one is just an "alright" addition to this series. There are things that you need to know, that are revealed here for future books though. So I wouldn't recommend skipping this one.

I just wish I could have become more invested in the MC's. For me, there just wasn't much chemistry between them, and the dragging out of why the heroine didn't want to be with her destined mate, bored me.

When I met Dominic in book 3, I got the impression his character would have much more fire. And whatever plot would be surrounding him and his mate, would be off the chain.
Again, sadly, it just wasn't.

That being said, I still would recommend this series. It's entertaining, interesting, funny, romantic, and sexy... Most of the time.

Happy Reading :)

Torkel's Chosen - Michelle Howard

This one was a really surprisingly awesome read. I mean I had hoped it would be good, but I wasn't expecting certain aspects of this story to emotionally blow me away, but it did.

This is the first book to this series. And while it does open up doors for other characters to have their stories told, I'm still on the fence about diving into the other books. Simply because I felt this one was so good, I don't see how others could be better. Still deciding if I'll proceed further or not, but I HIGHLY recommend that if you're curious about any book in this series, please start here first.

Happy Reading :)

Undone (The Amoveo Legend) by Humphreys, Sara(May 7, 2013) Mass Market Paperback - Sara Humphreys

So this one was all kinds of AWESOME!!! Back in the game with this one.
Yeah I'm definitely loving me some Pete.
I really enjoyed many of the reveals concerning him and where he comes from. I hope to see more & get more answers where he and his "Father" are concerned. I felt that he and Marianna were a perfect match for one another.

The other reveals concerning the Purists & Loyalists, are getting more and more intense by the second. I loved how certain things are being woven and revealed

Basically this series has me like...

So yes, I would definitely recommend this series.
Please Read In Order

Happy reading :)

The Final Temptation - K.C. Lynn

This one is a lot lighter than the other 3 books. Which I was expecting that, just given what we've come to know about Kayla & Cooper through out the series. I didn't really need to see their own personal story, because I felt like we got plenty from them through secondary plots within the other 3 books. But still, this one was a nice, lighter read. Fun, sexy, romantic and sweet.

I would recommend this entire series. Please read in order.

Happy Reading :)

Resisting Temptation - K.C. Lynn

WOW! This series has blown me away!

This was an awesomely heartbreaking read. I love this story. I've loved this entire series. I am so glad I came upon this series. Cade's story, was so beautifully written. I didn't think this series could get any more raw, but Cade's story certainly proved me wrong.

I HIGHLY recommend this read, this entire series.

Please read in order.

Happy Reading :)

Dragon Blue: A Lie That's True (The Dragonlords of Xandakar Book 1) - Macy Babineaux

This one wasn't all that great to be honest. The writing style seemed very choppy in some places and half thought out scenarios/plot lines, abound here...  But, the epilogue revealed a lot, and the teaser chapter (Chapter 1) for book 2,  was a vast improvement on the writing and intrigue. It  showed, at least for me, that this series may just turn out to be pretty good. So I will be back for book 2 definitely.

I would recommend this read just so you can get a lay of the land and an introduction to this world and the secondary plots that unfold for future books. But I wouldn't go into this one expecting to be blown away by the love story or the main characters for this book.

Happy Reading :)

Sweet Temptation (Men Of Honor) (Volume 2) - K. C. Lynn

Very Good follow up to book one. Thus far, I've loved both books immensely.

I'd highly recommend this series.

Happy Reading :)

Fighting Temptation - K.C. Lynn

OMGOSH! This was good :D

Untamed - Sara Humphreys

Yes this was definitely a "Transition Story" within the series. I didn't care too much for the pairing with Layla and William. They had very few intense or even sweet moments. It just was not enough for me.

This book, as far as the series goes, was a decent addition to it. And towards the end we get the beginnings of what will be the war between the Amoveo and the Purists that reside within their race. Which is good. The ball is finally beginning to roll. Just that the MC's and their obstacles left much to be desired. I like them both individually, just not as a couple. I also felt that Layla was taking too long to get with the program and accept her fate. Which was odd to me considering she's always known what she is. So as far as adjusting to many things, I felt like it should not have taken her as long to do so. Why she kept pulling away to a certain extent, I understood her fear and why, but overall it just didn't warrant all that she did and tried, just to avoid things.

In comparison to the first two novels where both heroines are Hybrids & had no clue what they were and with them having to find that out on top of dealing with a Life Mate, they accepted their fates and who they were with much more ease and grace. Not to mention how quickly they seemed to come around to it. So it made no sense to me for Layla, who has been aware of what she is, and essentially where she came from for the whole of her life; to have such a hard time accepting her fate and place, when she begins to learn the full scope of things. Didn't mesh.
This is why this one was only a 3* read for me.

Undenied (The Amoveo Legend #2.5) - Sara Humphreys

Very Quick. Hot Read. I'm so glad that Boris found his Life Mate though. These two make me very curious and I want to see more of them in the future. Especially since his mate is not a Hybrid, but she's 100% human.
