MsNalla's Take...

Reading is my passion. I love nothing more than to get lost in a story. Whether that be a fantasy story or one true to life. I love being able to share my experience through reading it.

Been Silent Awhile....

Hey to all of my awesom Followers...

Hope you all have been having an awesome 2018.

I promise.  I have still been reading ALOT. Just for some reason, I have lacked the desire to sharing/articulating my experiences while reading my stories. I don't know if I lost my mojo for writing reviews or what. But I've still been reading and rating, just having trouble with wanting to put them into words. No worries. Pretty sure my writing mojo will be back soon. Until then... I will "see" you all in the 2-0-1-9

Have a great rest of 2018!

Unrequited (Fallen Aces MC Book 1) - Max Henry

I can't remember the last time I read a book in this genre that was THIS intense, scary, intriguing, and heartbreakingly beautiful as this story is.

I mean WOW! And just imagine how ticked I was with the way the cliffy landed. But I was just as equally giddy about the fact that I had a "Free Lending Book due" at Kindle. So King & Elena's conclusion is about to be devoured by yours truly. ;)

Get this book people while it is still free. You will not regret this one.
I am on to their conclusion

Claws And Fangs - Laurann Dohner
Okay, so it's been a minute since I've actually had the time to write a review on a book I actually liked. So here goes...

I was right. #3 in this book totally blew stories 1&2 out of the park. Though 1&3 are actually my faves.
My rating for all 3 stories here separately, are as follows.
#1- 4 and half ****s
#2- 3***s
#3- 5*****s

Story number two was okay. I just was not feeling their overall coupling and how they came to be. But certain aspects of their plight as individuals was still interesting for me.

If you are fans of Mrs. L.D. (New Species Author), you will definitely appreciate the insta-love she has rocking here with these characters of hers in a traditional Vamp/Werewolf setting.
I really like just the overall ambience and layers that come with this mini trilogy.

So if you liked New Species and are curious, I would recommend this read.

Book Three

The Star Princess - Susan Grant

Okay.. This one may have taken a minute for me to get into. It didn't start to really interest me until about the 30-40% mark. From there on it was a pretty awesome read. Although it has a simpleton, light quality to it, it was great watching how things unfold here. I loved the ending as well.

I may just have to tackle the other reads in the series. This is the 1st book I've read in this series. I was not lost or confused about previous characters and plots that are present here. Everything flowed really well without being overwhelming in the reveals.

I would say based on book 3, you don't need to read these in order, to enjoy the story.

Dearest Ivie: A Novella Set in the Black Dagger World (Black Dagger Brotherhood) - J.R. Ward

"Of all the places I've gone and people I've known and things I've love for you is the purest representation of who I am. It's the best of me, of who I am, of my soul.
My love for everything of me"

Now if this quote doesn't hit home just how AWESOME this story is, I don't know what else to tell you my friend. You are lost.

This is an incrediably heartbreakingly poignant read. Ms Ward made me proud with this one.
It broke my heart. Had me crying. ALOT and made me laugh. Had me panting like a crack head searching for their pipe too.

Read this people. You'll love it.

Deviant - Jaimie Roberts

WTHeck kinda fresh hell was this?!

This book just sucked. It took way too long to get to the point of why this dude felt so strongly about punishing this girl. You don't know the why of it, until about the 88% mark of the book.

"Making her pay for all that she's done"
I promise! If he said this line one more time, without telling me why, I was about to throat punch his a&&... And what was finally revealed? Sorry, but the punishment did not fit the crime AT ALL.
And I knew it! I knew that his issue was something that could have been cleared away then and there, if he just went to her when it happened. I also figured out who set the mess in motion in the first place, way before that was revealed too. Oh and how quickly that person came to an end.
So anti-climactic it hurt my feelings.

And how the heck did she truly figure it out? It doesn't tell you or show you how she figures it out by just doing a little research online. Hell, if that's all it took, she could have done that 18 chapters ago! Still even though you know what she's researching, it still didn't show you how she connected those dots. Smh.

The only thing that was good about this story, was her relationship with 16 year old Jeremy
This was the only touching and real thing about this book. From how they met and formed their bond. It was all organically and emotionally sound. And flowed well. Too bad this still could not save this book.

The ending sucked only to leave way for a crappy cliffhanger, to get you to buy book two.
But this chick here, has left this crazy train and I will not be returning.

If you haven't figured it out yet, No. I would not recommend this read.

"Her Beast" by Sam Crescent

Nope... So would not recommend this read to anyone.

It was like watching a train wreck that I just couldn't look away from. Seriously, how did this book get so many high ratings?

Thank God it was brief, and I was able to get my money back.

"Still" (Grip Volume 2) by Kennedy Ryan

Still (Grip) (Volume 2) - Kennedy Ryan

My 1st AWESOME read of 2018. I'm a happy girl.

This story was just too much for my heart. My soul. This was an exceptional piece of writing here.
What an incredibly, raw journey you get, with Grip & Bristol. I could not have foreseen a better closing to their story and journey. It broke my heart. Then made it soar. I cried happy and heartbreaking tears. I laughed until my stomach hurt. And I blushed like a hot sweaty tomato.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

I HIGHLY recommend this read. This mini series of sorts...

Please start this journey at the beginning with the Prequel, Flow, then Book 1, Grip., before diving in here with Still
You will not be sorry.

You're welcome ;)

"Foster Dad" by Jordan Silver

Foster Dad - Jordan Silver

What a way to close 2017 in my book world. WOW...

I mean all the panties have flown out the window. Ya heard me?...

Okay Ms. Silver, you're a dirty chick. LMBO!

So if you want a touch of the taboo/forbidden & blush to the point of looking like a tomato, then by all means pick this one up. And I can't lie, I kinda fell in love with Evan too.

"The Dark Knight's Captive Bride" by Natasha Wild

It took me FOREVER to finish this book. But I must say I am truly thankful I was able to savor this one. In the beginning it did take a while for me to become enthralled with this one. But approaching the mid way mark I was completely consumed with this story. It's a miracle I was able to set it aside to finish other reads. Lol.

It blew me away. I'm not big on historical romances. But there have been few and far between that have captured my heart, and this story is definitely one of them. To say I loved this read would be a vast understatement.

So trust me, if you're big on reads in this genre, please pick this one up. And even if you're like me with books of this genre, still, pick it up. You will not be disappointed here.

Billionare Baby Daddy A Second Chance Romance by Lara Swann

Nope. The heroine got on my nerves. She was hung up on stuff that made no sense for someone in her position. Like she clung to the drama just for the sake of it. How are you going to have a problem accepting something that was offered to you freely, that same something that you went there for in the first place? Smh.

I also hate that there are no real descriptions of what the characters look like. Hard to picture or see the folks whose head that you're stuck in. The only endearing character here is Maddie the little girl, and the only realistic character is Emma the best friend.

The chemistry between Alistair & Leah seemed like it was there, but when it seemed like it was going to present itself it was lukewarm at best. And the opportunities did not come nearly enough for me. Also when they did appear, there were just too many "Fade to Black" scenes in this regard.

So no. I wouldn't recommend this one. It got on my nerves so bad I actually skimmed the last few chapters.

Happy Holidays!!!!

Hello Everyone!

I just wanted to say I wish you all a Blessed Holiday and New Year season.

I hope that every single one of you has all the love that your hearts and hands can hold.

I'm thankful to have "Met" you all. Thanks for the books/reviews you share with me.

Wishing you nothing but the best for you and yours' in 2018

Hero Next Door: A Single Dad Military Romance - Lara Swann

I really liked this one. And Mack?... *sighs*
And Tyler is so adorable. Such a sweet boy.

The Villain, when you compare it to the state that Naomi was left in, he left much to be desired once you actually got to meet him. I was rolling my eyes with the tantrums he was throwing. He was crazy yeah, but I don't know. I just wasn't seeing how he could have had her so petrified before she actually left him, and the entire time that she was away from him; only to quickly get her back bone when he's doing the most in trying to make her suffer. It just didn't quite hit that mark for me. But everything else was definitely on point for me.

I would recommend this read.

Happy Reading :)

"Imagine Me" by Fiona Cole

Okay... I now know why I had such an enormous pull/need to read this book.
It totally showcased in many ways, what occurred with my hubby and me.
Seriously Ms. Cole, were you reading my journal when you penned this?!
I mean some of the things here scared me they were so similar. LOL

My heart shattered and was put back together in the most awesome way. I love this story.
It's funny, sweet, passionate, poignant in it's prose. I love the chemistry between Shane & Juliana I love every single character in this book actually.

Shane had me wanting to do this to him for most of the book though..
photo 8052893_zpsbadda30e.gif

But I also loved and hated that he had me crushing on him big time. Just falling all kinds of dis-functional love with him. He had me like..
photo 10003149_zps19dff140.gif

He's such a Jerk Monkey to be able to have my emotions all in knots like this. But I love his broody a&&.
But mainly, again, I just loved where this story took me. How it reminded me of my own personal journey in many ways. It was just awesome.
I would highly recommend this read.
HappyFunSexyReading ;)

Ms. Fiona Cole, THANK YOU! so much for writing this book and gifting me a copy to read it.

Vampire: A Sensual Romance Novella - Gwendolyn R Morris

See, this is what happens every time I go against my instincts. When they tell me not to finish a book, I usually listen. But on those rare occasions when I decide to go against that, this happens. I waste my precious time on a story. Yup. I'm mad. I'm mad because there were things here that caught my attention and kept me reading, but then the outcome made it not worth it. Basically it should not have felt like a chore, and taken me this long to get through a book that is only 120 pages long.

I had plenty of problems with the execution of this story. From the way these two MC's related and spoke to one another, to the events that occurred in their journey till the end. There was some hotness here though. The beginning of their interludes were very awkward. But as the story progressed, the passion, heat and naughty bits you would expect to see; finally made themselves known.

What I did like was that the Vampires here, they aren't fluffed up like we've become so entralled with concerning these characters in others stories. They kill. To survive and sometimes for the fun of it. They are who they are and they don't apologize for it. It was refreshing for me to see this type of take on a Vampire that's fallen in love.

I can't say that I would recommend this read though. It's just not all that great.

Loving Storm (Ashes & Embers Book 5) - Carian Cole

This book was just simply perfection. LOVE this re-visit with Storm & Evie

That Epilogue! OMGoodness! But honestly, my fave chapter was... ALL of em!!!
Read this book people. But don't you dare touch it without starting at the beginning. (book 1)

I'm definitely in my happy book place right now. Would certainly recommend this read. This entire series :)

I can't wait for Asher's story. Come on Carian!!!! Hurry it up Girl!!

Happy Reading ;)
